Reasons You Should Follow Student Event or Competition During in The College

Life college is short, but this time is absolutely determining your "next step". However, life college is so fun and giving us lots of experiences to try, do, and realize! Here, we can explore our potential, build a global networking, find a true love reach your dream, and learn many things you wanna try. There are a lot of opportunities in the college instead only studying in the class. One example, you can join many student events such as competition, conference, exhibition, organization, volunteer action, etc. So, here I want to briefly tell based on my experience about the benefits of joining student event that we can do during in the college. Check it out! ;)

  • Brainstorming Your Idea
Following a competition such as the business case or scientific paper need a topic to be discussed and deep research. For the beginner, it will feel hard because you need extra focus in order to find your topic about the solution to solve the problems. It will brainstorm your references, and be championing your idea with your partners. Let the process happen and feel the change. Eventually, your brain will be accustomed to the new ideas, and make you be more creative and a great problem solver.

  • Challenging yourself
Joining a student event like a conference or exhibition is not as easy as the look. People may judge you follow these activities only from your attending the event or about the result that you've got. But the process before is very long and event makes you often feel exhausted. Behind the scenes that you may confront as the student may be about the long process of registering your idea to the committee or university, the process of looking for funding by sending sponsorship proposal because of the high-cost needs, you also maybe often skip lecture and others things that need more effort and your struggle. That's why I said it as a challenge for yourself because the challenge is good for one who wanna grow.

  • Cultivating and Growing your Potential Talent
After challenging yourself, your capacity becomes bigger than before. This what can be named the process to be more successful. Now, you can feel that the process that has ever made you exhausted actually good for your personal growth. In the journey, you can find and aware of your own potential talent. The analogy is like the door when you wanna open it for the new place, you must look for the key first that proper with the keyhole. The searching process may bore you, but believe that after the night is always there is morning. You will find your own key and open your door. Just keep it on your path!
  • Creating the New Opportunities
Joining many activities outside campus will let you meet many opportunities, both you may expect or not. You will meet with the new situation, people, place, and others new things! You will feel your dream closer because of the resources that you can gain from those new such as meet new people that enlarge your networking. For example, you have a new innovation in the mobile application that let people get bigger income from an online shop, but you have limited skill to realize that dream. So, when you challenge yourself to go outside and open for the new people and ideas, you can meet with the new person who has the ability to create the software that proper with what you need and starts cooperation. I think there are lots of examples today about the importance of open-minded, and I think it's impossible to create a big dream without any partner. :)
For example, the Founder of Ruang Guru.com Iman Usman and Belva Devara made the idea of Ruang Guru when they met at the event of "Young Leaders for Indonesia" held by Mc Kinsey in Jakarta. Nowadays, Ruang Guru.com become the number one of the educational online platform that helps millions of student in Indonesia get the better material education and greater understanding with sciences.

Maybe, that's all my opinion why we have to optimize our action during in the college because college time is short and don't let the opportunities in front of our eyes! Thank you for reading.
